Events Overview

Events are content or behavior changes recalled on a scheduled or repeating basis. You can create as many Events as you need.

The Events screen starts off empty, with the option to Add Event.

Clicking Add Event creates a blank Event, ready for customization.

Click to select the Event Type
  • Load Preset will recall a saved Preset

  • Power Save Displays will cause all clients to disable signal output and put their displays to sleep

  • Wake up Displays re-activates playback and displays

  • Power Off Server Sever shuts down and powers off. NOTE: Setting a scheduled power-on time on the server must be done in the system BIOS

  • Start Source will trigger a particular Source on a specified Display or Zone

  • Show Message will display a custom text message on some or all displays

  • Play Zone starts a specified Zone

  • Stop Zone stops a specified Zone

  • Load C&C Layout recalls a saved Layout, as long as C&C is running (On-Premise only)

  • Restart C&C Source will stop and re-start a selected Source inside Command & Control (On-Premise only)

Events can be renamed, otherwise they will simply count up from “Event 0”

Name the Event

Subsequent actions you can take depend on the type of event you selected. For example, Load Preset will ask you to specify a particular preset. Power Off Server asks for nothing but the time. Start Source will ask you to specify which source and which (or all) displays to use. Take some time to familiarize yourself with each.

The last step is configuring the schedule. You can set no schedule in order to create an Event that can only be triggered manually, but you’ll most likely select some kind of repeat option:

Hourly allows you to create events that trigger minutes or up to an hour apart. As an example, you can create alternating Events by creating two that run every 20 minutes, and have one start at 10 minutes after the hour. This schedule runs 24x7 by default, but can be customized to skip certain days or only run during set times.

Daily creates an event that repeats at the same time of day, once a day - this works well for opening/closing times, transitioning from Breakfast to Lunch times, and more.

Monthly events occur once per month, on the specified day of the month, and at the specified time.

Annual events run once a year, at the specified date and time.

Finally, each Event has its own set of controls:

  • Play this Event will manually trigger the Event, no matter what else may be happening at the time

  • Click to Suspend disables the Event from running on its schedule until re-enabled

  • Click to Hide will hide the Event from the Event Switcher interface, where otherwise any Event may be able to be triggered by the interface

  • And you can Delete this Event

Example Events

Example 1: Daily Open and Close

We want to create a pair of Events that coincide with the opening and closing of a business. This business's hours of operation are Monday to Friday, 8AM to 8PM.

We create the two Presets that we want to trigger.

Then we create an Event that triggers the Open Preset, and schedule it for 8:00AM every weekday.

Finally we create an Event that triggers the Closed Preset, and schedule it for 8:00PM every weekday.

Example 2: Rotating Playlist

In this example, we have our Zone display different Sources on a 10-minute rotation.

Create the first Event, telling the selected Zone to play a set Source. We make this command repeat every 20 minutes, starting on the hour.

Then we create the second Event, very similar to the first, except this one runs every 20 minutes, but starting 10 minutes past the hour.

Note the Events Preview on the right, confirming that we have created a sequence of events that will trigger a change every 10 minutes.
