uControl

The uControl application allows users to temporarily override content to multiple places with a single click.

Preset

A Preset when activated, instantaneously assigns the Source to the Destination (Custom preset), the Mapping Group to additional Destinations (Destination preset), or the Layout to the Canvas (Layout preset) . uControl presets can override any existing mapping.

Role Based Access Permissions for uControl

uControl Admins will be able to create, edit and delete presets.

uControl users will only be able to activate and deactivate existing presets. They will not be able to create, edit or delete presets.

Preset Types

Presets dictate the type of content that is being overridden:

  • Custom Preset: Assigns a Source to a Destination or multiple Destinations. If the Destination is already in use somewhere else it will be temporarily used as long as the preset remains active.

  • Destination Preset: Assigns new Destinations to an existing Mapping Group. If the Destination is already in use somewhere else it will be used by the uControl app until you navigate to the respective application and unmap the Destination.

  • Layout Preset: Assigns new layouts to selected Decisions canvases.

Create a Custom Preset

Create Sources and Destinations mappings you can activate with a single click. In the Custom Presets window you should be able to view all Sources and Destinations that are available to your uControl application through app permissions.

  1. In your Userful Infinity account, navigate to uControl.

  2. Click Create Preset at the top right corner.

  3. Select Custom Preset from the drop-down.

  4. Add a name and description for your custom preset.

  5. Select the player type.

  6. Enter Latency, Resolution, and Frame Rate Limit.

  7. Select GPU: The application automatically detects the GPU, but you can select from available options if required.

  8. Click Save changes. The Custom Preset window appears.

  9. Add the Sources you want to activate using the custom preset and map them with Destinations.

  10. Click Save Changes at the bottom right corner.

Activate the preset: Whenever you need to activate the custom preset you created, navigate to uControl and click the Play icon on the preset. The Sources in the preset will start playing on the mapped Destinations.

Deactivate the preset: To deactivate the preset, you can either click the preset play button or click the STOP ALL Mapping Presets button in the main window of uControl. When a custom preset is deactivated, all the Destinations part of that custom preset will return to play the previous content they were playing or the unmapped screen state.

Note:

  • The STOP ALL Mapping Presets button only stops custom presets.

  • You cannot deactivate or stop Destination presets and Layout presets.

  • You cannot play Web Browser source content to video walls using the uClient player in uControl. Learn more.

Create a Destination Preset

Play existing Mapping Groups to additional Destinations with a single click using a Destination preset. In the Destination Presets window you should be able to view all Mapping Groups and Destinations that are available to your uControl application through app permissions.

  1. In your Userful Infinity account, navigate to uControl.

  2. Click Create Preset at the top right corner.

  3. Select Destination Preset from the drop-down.

  4. Add a name and description for your preset.

  5. Click Save changes. The Destination Preset window appears.

  6. Click the Sources icon (cube-shaped icon) in the bottom tray.

  7. Drag and drop the Mapping Groups you want to activate using the Destination Preset.

  8. Click the Destinations icon (screen-shaped icon) in the bottom tray.

  9. Drag and drop additional Destinations for the Mapping Groups.

  10. Click Save changes at the bottom right corner.

Activate the preset

Whenever you need to activate the Destination preset you created, navigate to uControl and click the Play icon on the preset. The Mapping Groups in the preset will start playing on the mapped Destinations.

You cannot deactivate a Destination preset. If you need your Destinations back from uControl, unmap and remap them in the apps accordingly.

Create a Layout Preset

Create Layout - Canvas mappings you can activate with a single click. In the Layout Presets window you should be able to view all Layouts and Decisions canvases that are available to your uControl application through app permissions.

  1. In your Userful Infinity account, navigate to uControl.

  2. Click Create Preset at the top right corner.

  3. Select Layout Preset from the drop-down.

  4. Add a name and description for your preset.

  5. Click Save changes. The Layout Preset window appears.

  6. Click the Layout icon (list-like icon) in the bottom tray.

  7. Drag and drop a layout you want to add in the Layout preset

  8. Click the dotted square icon in the bottom tray.

  9. Drag and drop the Canvas to which you want to apply the layout.

Activate the preset

Whenever you need to activate the Layout preset you created, navigate to uControl and click the Play icon on the preset. The Layout in the preset will be applied to the corresponding Decisions canvas.

You cannot deactivate a Layout preset. If you need a different layout for a canvas that is currently in uControl, edit the canvas from the Decisions app.

Note:

  • The STOP mapping presets button only stops custom presets.

  • You cannot deactivate or stop Destination presets and Layout presets.

Duplicate Sources

Create copies of existing Sources without having to create new ones from scratch. You can duplicate Sources as you want, changing the frame rate, resolution, scaling, permissions or any other parameter. This feature is available from Userful Infinity version 12.9.

  1. In your Userful account, navigate to uControl.

  2. Click the three-dot menu on any Custom preset and click Edit.

  3. Click the Sources icon (cube-shaped icon) in the bottom tray.

  4. Click on the three dot menu on any Source.

  5. From the drop-down, select Duplicate.

  6. In the Create Source panel, make the changes you need and click Save.

Note:

The Duplicate option is not currently available for:

  • Sources that contain playlists

  • Sources & Destinations app

  • Engage app

Create a Destination Preset
