One of the hallmark features of the Userful Infinity Platform is its ability to calibrate multiple displays of any size, shape, or rotation into a single unified video wall. It is optimized to deliver live content to that wall with flawless synchronization. Userful’s video wall calibration interface makes creating this canvas easy and straightforward.
A Video wall is your displays' physical collection and arrangement in their mounted and aligned configuration.
A Display is a single visual element of the wall. It is either a panel or segment of a Direct-View LED setup, driven by a uClient.
A Grid video wall is any wall that exclusively uses displays of identical type and arrangement to create a rectangular geometrical shape.
An Artistic video wall is any wall that uses displays of different sizes, shapes, or arrangements to create visually distinctive arrangements.
It is strongly recommended to:
Hang and adjust the physical video wall before calibrating it with the Userful application, and
Calibrate your video wall in person using a laptop rather than a phone or tablet, as the calibration interface is not suited for mobile experiences.
Click on the option on the Sources and Destinations screen. The Create Video Wall menu appears.
Enter the Name and Description.
Select the Video Engine and the Endpoint Type.
Enable the Artistic Deployment option if creating an artistic video wall.
Click .
The canvas tab appears. By default, the canvas shows a 2x2 video wall. It contains 4 display placeholders.
Drag and drop the destination from the Destinations panel to map it to a display placeholder on the video wall. During calibration, the physical display has a corresponding number shown on it to make identification easy.
To change the layout of the wall, click the [-] Rows [+] or [-] Columns [+] button.
Hold the Ctrl button and left-click on the [+] / [-] button on the padding scale within the calibration window to adjust the position. This helps in perfect alignment.
Use the Video Wall Rotation option to rotate the entire video wall to a specific degree.
Click on the icon to delete the display.
Click on the Details tab.
The right menu shows the options to calibrate the display. Select the display on the canvas, and enter the rotation degree and X, Y coordinates on the screen.
To create a new display placeholder, click on the + icon in the Display List menu. The placeholder appears on the screen. Adjust it according to your setup.
Select a display in the video wall and use the following key combinations to adjust calibration. It is recommended to use these shortcuts and adjust display positioning on the wall and not the operation center interface in your browser.
Keys | Function |
Arrow Keys (Up, Down, Left, Right) | One unit of movement in any direction |
Ctrl + Arrow Keys | 10 unit movement in any direction |
Bracket Keys [ ] | 1 degree of rotation clockwise or counterclockwise |
Ctrl + Bracket Keys [ ] | 10 degrees of rotation clockwise or counterclockwise |
Ctrl+Left Click | Select multiple displays |
Bring a leveling device like a straight edge, leveling laser, or even a piece of string, to ensure lines on the displays are aligned.
Use a laptop (Windows, Mac, Chromebook, Linux) with a mouse and not a mobile device for the best calibration.
Verify all display sizes are accurate as read by a client/uClient from the EDID. Also, ensure that the display size (in inches) matches the display on the wall.
If you are creating a wall with ~12 displays or fewer, start with one central display, and add additional displays, one at a time. Make sure you are completely satisfied with the level of calibration before moving on to the next display.
If you are creating a larger wall, start with corner displays, pick a segment, and work your way inwards. You can select multiple displays (using Ctrl+ left click) and adjust them as a group.
Along with the calibration tool kindly manually evaluate the level of displays and realign them on the wall.
Enable the Artistic Deployment option and click .
Drag and drop the destination from the Destinations panel to the canvas.
To manually calibrate a display, click on the display. A blue border appears around the display. Left-click and drag the display to arrange it on the canvas. Use the anchor to rotate the display, or enter the degree of rotation in the Rotation text field.
Click on the icon to delete the display.
