Add an SSL Certificate:
Select the file and click Open. The certificate gets uploaded.
Select the file and click Open. The file gets uploaded.
Note: Ensure the access URL is in the same domain as the SSL Certificate.
Backup and Restore
The Backup and Restore function allows you to create a backup of the application and user data.
Starting from Version 12.9, you will have the option to restore a backup on the same server or a different server.
Back up and restore on the same server
This is often required when you need to back up your data before a fresh installation of the Userful software to fix unexpected issues.
Back up and restore on a different server
This can be done when:
You want to duplicate all Sources and Mapping Groups in your current system on a different system.
There is a problem with your current server, so you want to move your content to a different server. For example, your current server cannot handle the load, so you want to replace it with better hardware. Note: While creating a backup of a system with failover configuration, ensure that the primary server is active and delete the failover configuration. Refer to the pre-requisites section below for steps.
Create a backup
Pre-requisites
Ensure your user management data is updated. This includes all the data you entered while configuring LDAP or SAML. If your user management data is not up to date when you create the backup, it can lead to issues when you restore the backup.
Delete failover configuration When you need to create a backup of a server with failover configuration:
Ensure that the primary server is active.
Delete the failover configuration before you create a backup. A backup created with a failover configuration may not work when restored.
To delete failover configuration:
Navigate to Admin Center > System Configuration.
Click Failover Settings in the left pane.
Click Delete.
To create a backup:
In your Userful Infinity account, navigate to Admin Center > System Configuration > General Settings.
Click Backup and Restore. You might be asked to log in with your credentials.
Click Backup and Restore. A panel appears on the right side.
Click Create new backup.
Add a name and description for your backup.
Check the Media files box to include video and image Sources in your backup. Else, leave it unchecked.
Click Create Backup. The system creates a backup and prompts you to save it. Alternatively, click the three-dot menu next to your backup name and click Download.
Restore a backup
In your Userful Infinity account, navigate to Admin Center > System Configuration > General Settings.
Click Backup and Restore. You might be asked to log in with your credentials.
Click Backup and Restore. A panel appears on the right side.
Click Upload Backup File, then select and upload your backup file. If your backup file already exists in the list of files displayed, go to the next step.
Click the three-dot menu at the right side of your backup file and select Restore.
Select the types of data (Accounts data , Apps Data) you want to restore. Note: If your user management data is outdated, do not include Accounts data, which it can lead to system issues.
Click Begin Restore. Your backup will be restored and you'll see Sources and Mapping Groups in the apps.
Resume LDAP after restoring backup
If you use the LDAP integration, please follow the steps below after restoring a backup:
Navigate to Admin Center > User Management.
Under External Authentication, select LDAP integration.
Click the three-dot menu next to your LDAP configuration and click Edit.
Enter the password in the Bind Credential field.
Click Save Changes.
Import from Userful 11
Migrate resources with an improved workflow. This feature helps import video wall Destinations, Mapping Groups, and Operations Centers from the Userful Visual Networking to the Userful Infinity Platform.
Prerequisite:
Create a backup of the the System Configuration in the Userful Visual Networking platform. This is the backup file you upload for importing your Userful 11 data to Userful Infinity.
Note
Use the same uClients you used in the Userful Visual Networking Platform for Userful Infinity. The content will not resume on Destinations after import if you do not use the same uClients.
In your Userful Infinity account, navigate to to Admin Center > System Configuration > General settings.
Click Import from Userful 11. A panel appears.
Using checkboxes, select all that should be included in the import from Userful 11: Video wall Destinations, Mapping Groups, and Operations Centers.
Click Upload file and upload your Userful 11 backup. The system tells you what can and cannot be imported.
Click Import. Your Userful Visual Networking data will be imported to Userful Infinity.
The current implementation only supports importing Mapping Groups for the Artistic application.
The Sources resume playback on the Destinations after the import, provided the Destination configurations and the connections is not altered. This means you should use the same uClients you used in the Userful Visual Networking Platform for Userful Infinity.
Importing the same backup file creates multiple mapping groups with the same sources, resulting in duplicate Mapping groups with the same name and source.
Global Cluster Manager Pairing
If you use GCM, you will need to enable this option to pair servers with GCM. This feature is available in beta from Userful Infinity version 12.9.
Manage SSH Keys
SSH (Secure Shell) enables users to access the Userful Server securely with an encrypted connection to perform advanced configuration using the command line. This feature is available from Userful Infinity version 12.9.
Enable SSH access only when necessary. Once enabled, the setting cannot be disabled.
Exercise caution while creating users with SSH access. A Linux user with SSH access has complete administrator access to the server.
Once created, administrators cannot delete Linux users or remove SSH access. They can only remove the SSH keys from the user.
Administrators can:
Create Linux users and SSH keys to them.
Edit users to add or remove SSH keys from them.
Administrators cannot delete Linux users or remove SSH access.
Enable SSH
In your Userful account, navigate to Admin Center > System Configuration > General Settings.
Click Manage SSH Keys.
Use the toggle button to Enable SSH Access.
Note: Once enabled, this setting cannot be disabled.
A warning message will appear. Click Enable SSH Access to accept the warning and enable the setting.
Create a Linux user
To create a new Linux user:
Click Create new Linux user.
Add a username and paste or upload your public key.
Click Create new Linux user.
Add or remove a key
To add a key, paste or upload the key in the Public SSH Key field.
Click Save.
Remove all keys
Use the check box to select one or more users from the list.
Click Actions and select Remove all keys.
Check for System Updates
This is where you update your system to the latest available version of Userful Infinity.
To view updates and install them:
Once it identifies updates, click the tab again. A panel appears.
Click Begin installing packages.
In addition to the latest Userful updates, you'll find a "gcc-toolset" update, which is safe to install. Furthermore, the latest versions of Chrome will also be available when released.
GPU Settings
GPU latency is the time in milliseconds that your GPU can use to process content.
To set the GPU Latency value:
In your Userful Infinity account, navigate to Admin Center > System Configuration > General Settings.
Under GPU Settings, click Set GPU latency.
Enter the value and reboot the server for the changes to take effect.
uClient Settings
Select a video codec for content streaming. A video codec compresses and decompresses digital video, making file sizes smaller and storing and distributing videos easier. The Userful Infinity platform offers options to choose video codecs for Android and WebOS displays. It offers the following options:
H.265 High Efficiency Video Coding It delivers high-quality videos at low bitrates. The output file size is smaller than that of other codecs.
H.264 Advanced Video Coding It delivers high-quality videos at low bitrates. The output file size is smaller than other codecs but not less than H.265.
Generally, H.265 (High-Efficiency Video Coding) video codec works well for uClient (android) displays, and H.264 (Advanced Video Coding) video codec works well for WebOS displays.
Reboot server
You can restart your server by clicking the Reboot server option if the need arises. This will stop all processes and content playing on screens.
Server Uptime and last reboot
The General Settings page now also shows you how long your server has been up and the date and time of the previous reboot.
