Description

Canvas

A single instance or space within an operations center for adding and arranging multiple Sources. There can be many Canvases within an operations center.

Corporate Resources

Mapping Groups in Userful Infinity that you can share with other stakeholders using Spaces screencast. Users must have proper access permissions to share corporate resources.

Destination

A screen or display paired with a server in the Userful network for displaying content from Sources.

Direct Sources

Sources that stream directly from the server - RTSP, HDMI, and Media Sources. Direct Sources are not interactive, hence the Interactive Viewer cannot be used with these Sources.

Endpoints

The uClient adapter connected to a display, or the displays with the uClient application installed.

Frame rate

The number of frames that play per second. The higher the frame rate, the higher the load on the GPU.

Hardware decoder

In the context of Userful Infinity, a hardware decoder uses GPU resources to process data. In contrast, a software decoder uses CPU resources to process data.

Indirect Sources

All web-based Sources - Web Browser, Remote Desktop, Power BI, Epic, Tableau, Program Runner, VNC, and YouTube. Indirect Sources are interactive Sources, hence the Interactive Viewer can be used with these Sources.

Inset

A Source you drag and drop to a Canvas in Decisions.

Interactive viewer

A mode that allows you to interact with interactive Sources directly. For example, you can use the Interactive Viewer to navigate through the pages of a web browser Source. Interactive Sources are also called "indirect Sources" in Userful as they are not directly played from the server. They are Web Browser, Remote Desktop, Power BI, Epic, Tableau, Program Runner, VNC, and YouTube Sources.

Latency

The delay between the moment a Source sends a signal and the moment it is received at the Destination.

Layout

The arrangement of Sources within a Canvas.

Mapping Group

A placeholder to ‘map’ a Source with a Destination. When you ‘map’ a Source with a Destination, the Source content starts playing on the Destination. Sources can play without a Destination and can be configurable via Interactive Viewer.

Mapping Group behavior

This setting decides the point at which a Mapping Group becomes active. If you set the behavior to Active when destinations are assigned, the Mapping Group becomes active only when you map a Destination. If the Always active behavior is enabled, the Mapping Group will stay active and appear in all Mapping Group lists within Userful Infinity. For example, for corporate resource sharing in Spaces. An active Mapping Group consumes resources.

Operations Center

A module for managing a set of Canvases, each containing a set of Sources. Operation Centers are part of the Decisions application meant for control rooms and mission-critical environments.

Preset

Pre-existing Sources, Mapping Groups and Layouts. Presets are used in uControl to easily override the content playing on Destinations with a single tap click.

Refresh interval

The time between two refresh attempts.

Refresh rate

The number of times a screen is refreshed in the background to update information.

Resolution

The resolution of a screen is stated in terms of its rectangular width and height. For example, 3840x2160 is usually called 4k resolution. If a screen has a high resolution, it means that it can display a large number of pixels. More pixels provide more clarity and detail to visuals. Conversely, the higher the resolution, the higher the load on the GPU.

Scaling

The process of enlarging or reducing the content on a screen to accommodate different screen resolutions and pixel densities.

Server player

An option that uses the server (not the uClient) and its resources to play Source content to Destinations.

Session persistence

This is a setting available to Web Browser Sources, which lets you save your credentials for accessing the web browser page. It provides two options: Retain and Discard. If you select to ‘retain’ session persistence for a web browser source, you will not need to enter the credentials to access a web browser page after a reboot of the system.

Software decoder

In the context of Userful Infinity, a software decoder consumes CPU resources to process data. In contrast, a hardware decoder uses GPU resources to process data.

Source

The origin or source of the content that plays on a Destination. Userful supports different types of Sources ranging from images and videos to remote desktop and Linux programs.

uClient application

The software application that runs on a uClient adapter, developed by Userful. The uClient application can be directly installed and used on LG WebOS displays avoiding the need for the uClient device hardware. Both the uClient adapter and the uClient application installed on displays are generally referred to as 'uClients' or sometimes 'endpoints'.

uClient adapter

Userful uses a client-server model for data visualization. The uClient adapter is Userful’s client hardware device for content playback. A uClient is typically connected between a server and a display. The uClient application can be directly installed and used on LG WebOS displays avoiding the need for the uClient adapter. Both the uClient adapter and the uClient application installed on displays are generally referred to as 'uClients' or sometimes 'endpoints'.

uClient player

An option that uses the uClient (instead of the server) to play Source content to Destinations.

uConduct

An application that enables operators in control rooms to manage multiple Sources on different Canvases.

uControl

An application that enables you to apply pre-existing Sources, Mapping Groups and layouts (presets in uControl) to Destinations with a single click.
