System backup and restore
Backup and Restore
The Backup and Restore function allows you to create a backup of the application and user data.
Starting from Version 12.9, you will have the option to restore a backup on the same server or a different server.
Back up and restore on the same server
This is often required when you need to back up your data before a fresh installation of the Userful software to fix unexpected issues.
Back up and restore on a different server
This can be done when:
You want to duplicate all Sources and Mapping Groups in your current system on a different system.
There is a problem with your current server, so you want to move your content to a different server. For example, your current server cannot handle the load, so you want to replace it with better hardware. Note: While creating a backup of a system with failover configuration, ensure that the primary server is active and delete the failover configuration. Refer to the pre-requisites section below for steps.
Create a backup
Pre-requisites
Ensure your user management data is updated. This includes all the data you entered while configuring LDAP or SAML. If your user management data is not up to date when you create the backup, it can lead to issues when you restore the backup.
Delete failover configuration When you need to create a backup of a server with failover configuration:
Ensure that the primary server is active.
Delete the failover configuration before you create a backup. A backup created with a failover configuration may not work when restored.
To delete failover configuration:
Navigate to Admin Center > System Configuration.
Click Failover Settings in the left pane.
Click Delete.
To create a backup:
In your Userful Infinity account, navigate to Admin Center > System Configuration > General Settings.
Click Backup and Restore. You might be asked to log in with your credentials.
Click Backup and Restore. A panel appears on the right side.
Click Create new backup.
Add a name and description for your backup.
Check the Media files box to include video and image Sources in your backup. Else, leave it unchecked.
Click Create Backup. The system creates a backup and prompts you to save it. Alternatively, click the three-dot menu next to your backup name and click Download.
Restore a backup
In your Userful Infinity account, navigate to Admin Center > System Configuration > General Settings.
Click Backup and Restore. You might be asked to log in with your credentials.

Click the three-dot menu at the right side of your backup file and select Restore.
Select the types of data (Accounts data , Apps Data) you want to restore. Note: If your user management data is outdated, do not include Accounts data, which it can lead to system issues.
