Web Browser Source
Compatible apps: Decisions, Trends, Artistic
Userful comes with the latest versions of Firefox and Chrome, and a lightweight WebKit browser to display HTML content, videos, Websites, intranet portals etc.
Create a Web Browser Source
In your Userful Infinity account navigate to Sources and Destinations.
Click Sources in the left pane.
Click Create Source at the top right corner. The Create Source menu appears.
Add a name and description.
Optional: Select or create a tag for easy access to the Source.
To create a Tag, click on the Tags drop-down menu. A cursor appears.
Enter the name of the tag and press the Enter key. The Tag gets created. Tags help sort Sources when there are multiple Sources.
Select Source Type as Web Browser.
Select a thumbnail image.
Select the browser.
Enter the URL of the web page.
Select the page to be displayed on the Destination after a page refresh in the backend (option available only from version 12.9)
Refresh to Home Page - This option will display the configured URL page after a page refresh, regardless of whether you use the Interactive Viewer to visit other links or pages.
Refresh to Recent Page - This option will display the latest page you visited using the Interactive Viewer on the Destination screen.
Known issue with WebKit browser
Enabling the Refresh to Recent Page does not work for WebKit Web Browser Source Type.
Enter refresh interval - the time interval at which the web page should be refreshed and updated from the backend.
Enter framerate.
Enable Show mouse pointer if needed.
Select the Session persistence option.
Select Retain to keep playing the Source on the Destination even if the web browser session closes or stops. The Destination displays the last active frame.
Select Discard to stop the session displaying on the Destination if it closes or stops.
Known issue with WebKit browser
If you have a WebKit Web Browser Source, the content does not recover after a server reboot, even if you have selected the Retain session persistence option.
For advanced settings, go to the next step. Else, click Save.
Click the Advanced tab.
Enter the Resolution at which the Source should be streamed to the Destination.
Select Scaling option from the drop-down menu.
Scale to Fit The source is scaled so that the border of the image and the entire image are visible inside the display. This most often results in black bands above and below the image.
Stretch Full Screen The source is scaled so that the entire image is visible on the display. This means the video's aspect ratio is stretched horizontally and vertically to match the display's aspect ratio.
Zoom Full Screen The source is scaled so that some image is outside the display (cropped). This eliminates the black banding on the display, but it means that either the horizontal or vertical outside edges of the video will not be visible to the user.
Enable the Shareable option if you wish to reduce resource utilization. When the Source is used for streaming content, and the Shareable option is enabled, the server generates one Source instance and shares it across applications. For example, if you create two Sources with the same parameters and map the sources to the Canvas/Mapping Group, the server only creates one running instance of the Source reducing resource utilization.
To restrict access to selected apps and user groups, click the Permissions tab and select apps and user groups.
Click Save.
